A Q&A With Jack Moody On Bringing Irish Wrestling to Colorado
We caught up with Jack and asked him a few questions about wrestling in Colorado, and future plans.
IAPW: Hey Jack, thanks for taking the time to chat. So tell us about your experience wrestling all across Colorado!
JM: “Thanks for having me! It’s wild really, I used to work in a corporate job in downtown Denver so to be back here wrestling extensively is amazing. I made my Colorado debut with Primos Pro Wrestling back in June 2022, and followed that up with performances for Colorado Springs Wrestling and Devotion Championship Wrestling in Utah. That summer 2022 run was magic, topped off with a match for the Primos Heavyweight Championship in the Roxy theatre in Denver. Since that summer run, I’ve been back and forth between Ireland and Denver, returning to Colorado in late 2022 to compete again for Primos and even in the prestigious Buckley Space Force base for one of Colorado’s biggest wrestling events in history. Most recently, I had the chance to debut for New Era Wrestling in the stunning Castle Event Centre in Thornton, which was definitely a career highlight.”
IAPW: That is where we first saw you, and your match against Bruce Rogers was really opened our eyes to you. What are your thoughts on the wrestling scene in Colorado?
JM: “The sheer breadth of opportunities here is massive. There’s New Era Wrestling, Primos, CSW, LLL, Battleground, RIP, CWC and RMP all running regular shows, which makes for a stacked wrestling calendar. Another thing that struck me when I first started wrestling here was the amazing production values across the board. Colorado has a range of beautiful wrestling venues, Sunshine Studios in Colorado Springs, the Oriental Theatre in Denver and the Castle Event Centre in Thornton, to name a few. These are aesthetically beautiful venues to wrestle in, and it’s no surprise why the fan attendance is so high. The calibre of seasoned performers here is insane, and the camaraderie between all the talent is really special. I’ve been so fortunate to have been warmly welcomed into the scene, and I’ve made some amazing friends too.”
IAPW: What are your wrestling goals for the future?
JM: “Stay injury free and continue promoting the art of Catch-as-Catch-Can wrestling all around the world. I want to keep traveling and showcasing my unique style of Irish wrestling to different international audiences, while proudly flying the Irish flag wherever I go. I’ve been lucky to have traveled extensively and visited some amazing places, but wrestling in Japan is something I’d love to tick off my bucket list. My wrestling style is strongly influenced by NJPW best of the super juniors matches from 2008 onwards, and there’s a massive appreciation for the Catch-as-Catch-Can style in Japan. Wrestling in Korakuen hall in Tokyo would be a legitimate out of body experience – so let’s see if I can make it happen.”
IAPW: Excellent! We are really excited to have you here in the Colorado scene, and would love to able to catch you on a Japanese streaming event in the future!
